Church School
Train up a child in the way He should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it. - Proverbs 22:6
At Christ the Saviour Church, we believe that our children are the future of the Church as well as being vital members of the Church right now. Our Church School Ministry provides age-appropriate activities and lessons that are based on the Orthodox Christian Faith and practices. Our gifted and enthusiastic team of teachers strives to provide the children with different opportunities to learn about the Orthodox Christian Faith and our lives as Christians in a fun and engaging way. The Patron Saint of our Church School is Raphael, Bishop of Brooklyn.
Our Church School aims to guide our children in the Light of Christ, teaching them the importance of being thankful to God for all his blessings, prayer, and the relevance of the Gospel to our daily life. We discuss the Sacraments, the importance of a daily rule of prayer, and the Joy that can be found in living one’s life in Christ. We work to bring the Orthodox Faith into age-appropriate lessons, activities, and prayer habits. We utilize the Sunday Gospel readings, Antiochian Archdiocese Christian Education textbooks and resources, as well as the Diocesan Festivals. Each year, a scripture verse is assigned as the topic on which children from all the sister churches in our diocese and archdiocese create poems, drawings/art, photograph compilations, and written paragraphs/essays.
