Young Adults
Fellowship is part of the design that our Lord intended for His people, from the creation of Eve to sending them out ‘two by two’ (Luke 10:1). As it says in Acts 2:42, “They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.” Very few can be a Christian alone, as many of us find sustenance and joy in fellowship.
We are blessed with a wonderful group of young people at Christ the Saviour who enjoy this fellowship with each other. While some of our get-togethers are spontaneous—going out for food after church, walks through Waterloo Park, hiking and swimming at Laurel Creek Conservation Area, or bonfires and barbecues in the summertime—our Orthodox Christian Fellowship and Fermented Faith groups meet regularly. We always welcome new faces and enjoy meeting new people. Feel free to get in touch and come hang out!

OCF - Orthodox Christian Fellowship
Our parish priest, Fr. Christopher Rigden-Briscall, is the Orthodox Christian chaplain for both the University of Waterloo and Wilfrid Laurier University. Our church is located close to both campuses. As a result, our church has strong ties to the university community. We are connected to the Orthodox Christian Fellowship (OCF) chapter for both universities. Join their Facebook group or contact Fr. Christopher for more details.
Orthodox Christian Campus Ministry
Orthodox services, guest speakers, retreats, social gatherings, philanthropy as well as evangelism and outreach are all part of the pan-Orthodox Christian Campus Ministry that serves the students, faculty and staff of the local universities and colleges in the Waterloo Region. Fr. Christopher along with a number of lay ministers and student leaders seek to serve and support the people who live and work on the local campuses. One of the reasons Christ the Saviour Parish was founded here in Waterloo was to reach out and support students as they find their way through this critical and formative time in their lives.
A staple of this ministry has been “Fermented Faith,” established by Fr Christopher and Christian Reformed Chaplain, Rev. Brian Bork, in 2013. This is a gathering at Wilf’s Pub (Wilfrid Laurier University) co-hosted by Fr. Christopher and other Laurier Chaplains. Open to students from all campuses, these gatherings offer informal discussions about engaging and relevant theological, philosophical and popular topics. The appetizers at Wilf’s are amazing and they are free for everyone who attends!
